Blog: “The Joy is in the Journey”: 30 years as a fair trade retailer.

This year World’s Window has reached a great milestone - 30 years of “Bringing the world to Kansas City.” We have dedicated our energies and resources to offering Kansas City a creative option in shopping that few cities have - where the interests of our consumers, artisans and our community are all priorities for us. We have created a place where “the creativity of human mind, spirit and experience is celebrated every day.”

We have accomplished this with talented and creative staff sharing their customer skills and passion for our products each and every day with you, our wonderful customers. Our vendors have been a big part of this as they have provided the products we choose to carry. We have purchased Fair Trade products from the very beginning of our business and continue to incorporate fairly traded and consciously produced merchandise into our eclectic mix of merchandise.

We have partnered with local and international organizations through our vendors and directly in our neighborhood through our own fund-raising efforts and our support of many, many requests from organizations each year for donated goods for auctions and raffles. For 8 years we have helped stock the clothing “store” at our domestic violence shelter and for our 20th anniversary we raised funds to build a Habitat house in the Dominican Republic.

Our celebrations of this auspicious occasion started in early April and will spread throughout the year. We’ve chosen as our theme, “The Joy is in the Journey.” We recognize that no matter whether we are in the midst of our most successful year or our greatest challenges, the best part of creating and owning World’s Window over these years has been the grand journey of it all. We have met all of you, our incredible customers who love what we present and challenge us to grow; who celebrate with us and share your own journey stories with us.

We have worked with interesting and story-filled vendors and talented artisans. We have raised our family in our store. We have experienced amazing personalities and gifts in our staff. We have been blessed with creative ideas and new doors to walk through just when they are needed.

Many of you have walked this journey with us for quite a few of our 30 business years. We thank you.

So come on this anniversary journey with us. We promise lots of fun-filled celebrations along the way. And we want YOU to be a part of them!
