
Chiwara are used by the Bambara people of Mali in agricultural rites. It would often sit atop dried grasses for a full costume to be worn during dances and ceremonies. This is a true ethnographic piece made in Mali of local woods, metals and cloth. This piece is a male chiwara and has some repairs done to the horns although it is not immediately apparent.
