A sun is always a perfect addition to a wall or garden fence.
Haitian steel drum sculptures (fer découpé) are fabulous both indoors and out as they are coated by the artist with varnish. Each piece is hand-drawn with chalk on flattened, discarded steel drums. Then, with a hammer and chisel, artists cut along the chalk marks and the recycled metal sculpture takes shape. With more hammering, the chiseled intricate details in the sculptures come forth blow by blow.
Originally the personal art of one artist, Georges Liataud, now hundreds of craftsmen pursue their art and their families benefit from Fair Trade.
